Red Ribbon Week

What is Red Ribbon Week?

Fifteen years ago, the community of Calexico, California, distraught over the death of DEA Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, decided that it was time to honor their local hero and take a stand against drugs. Little did they know that they would ignite the national movement we now know as the National Red Ribbon Week Campaign. Their efforts, over the years, have inspired students, parents, teachers, service clubs and hundreds of organizations throughout the United States to recognize and promote the importance of a drug-free lifestyle.

Victor Valley - Tony Daleo - Chapter #63 honored the students of Red Ribbon Week at our Dinner Meeting on November 17, 2004. First prize was a check for $50; second prize was a check for $35; and third prize was a check for $25. Each honoree and both parents of that honoree received a free dinner.

The photos, below, are from the awards dinner and also include pictures of the winning posters. Missing from these pictures are: Amber Guerrero - 2nd Place - Hesperia Jr. High; Stanley Taase - 2nd Place - Silverado High School; and Natalie Alonso & Brittany Ellsworth - 3rd Place Tie - High School Category.
