Officer Jeffrey Holland Honored
"Police Officer of the Year"

August 18, 2000

Officer Holland was honored as Officer of the Year by the International Footprint Association. The award was for stopping a bank robbery at the Great Western Bank at 4718 L St., where he worked as an off-duty security officer. Holland overpowered two men trying to rob the bank even though he was shot in the chest and leg. One of the suspects escaped but was caught later near St. Joseph. Mo. Holland remains off duty, recuperating at home from his injuries. He said he appreciated the latest award: "It makes you feel pretty important." He has already been picked to receive an honorable mention award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police and Parade Magazine in November in San Diego.

Congratulations Officer Holland!!
